The Biophone phonograph was a machine that was quite different in form from other phonographs on the market at the time. It has a stylish dark green metal housing, covering almost all of the machine, with merely a large slot left to be able to play the cylinder, and a hole at the side to access the mandrel. Because of the architecture of this machine, the stylus had to be over 1 cm long in order to reach the cylinder through the metal slot.
